2020 has been a difficult year for us all with the pandemic impacting every aspect of society, but unfortunately it has hit some people harder than others.
A recent report from Trussell Trust has revealed how coronavirus has affected food bank use, with a huge rise in people needing to use a food bank in its network for the first time. The Trussell Trust’s records also show that families with children are being hit the hardest during the crisis.
One of our financial consultants Samim Mitha and her two daughters have always supported their local foodbank, but after donating goods during the pandemic and seeing how low supplies were they knew they wanted to do more. After putting their heads together and with the creative nature of both her daughters, the idea of Little Card Cottage was born.
The girls are now creating greetings card to sell, with a mimimum of 50% profits going to their local foodbank - Humanity First, Mirfield. They are uniquely designed with watercolour paintings by H and calligraphy by S, to create these beautiful cards for charity.
Since setting up Little Card Cottage, the girls have managed to get the support from local MP Mark Eastwood, as well as being able to showcase their cards in two local stores - The Hidden Gem, Birstall and Oops a Daisy, Mirfield.
As a company, CHN have decided to get behind this initiative to help support people in our local community. This year will be purchasing our Christmas cards through Little Card Cottage as well as a variety of other greetings cards.
If you would like to support this initiative too, please follow them on social media or visit their amazon store:
