What do you do in your role at CHN?

As Finance Manager I produce monthly Management Accounts and other reports for the Partners and the FCA; I help to construct the annual budget and ensure it’s being stuck to and generally make sure that the finance function within the business is working smoothly and correctly, it’s my responsibility to guarantee that people get paid correctly!

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I really enjoy working with figures, so this is a great job for me! I enjoy seeing “under the bonnet” of how businesses work and working to make it run more efficiently.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I have a French Bulldog called Mac who keeps me on my toes; I worked as a chef before I became an accountant and I still enjoy cooking & baking and I enjoy indulging my geeky side by playing Warhammer 40,000.

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

“The best laid schemes o' mice an' men, gang aft a-gley.” – No matter what you think the future holds, it’s often very different to what you thought, so always remain open-minded and flexible when new opportunities arise.

Where would you be right now if you had zero obligations and money didn’t matter?

The wife, the dog and I would be at a well-stocked beach-side cottage in the Outer Hebrides, the perfect place for peace and quiet in some of the best scenery in the world.

What’s your guilty pleasure

I have a really sweet tooth, and despite my best efforts to keep on top of it, it generally gets what it wants!
